Garmin has just (finally) released a new version of the iDevice (iPad/iPhone) BlueChart Mobile. The new version is 1.3
The new stuff:
Garmin quatix watch support – you can transfer routes, waypoints and tracks – including the virtual staring line for the quatix watch. Garmin – better late than never….. but that was about time. Now lets see if Garmin Connect support is coming any time soon…..
GPSMAP 8000 series support –
New grouping function – create lists where you can group routes, waypoints, catches and tracks making it easier to organise your data
Garmin has released the BlueChart Mobile App in the iTunes Store.
The App will turn your iPad or iPhone with iOS6 or later into a Marine Navigation system. It also gives you the opportunity to let your current Garmin ChartPlotter “work” with your iDevice if you have bought the Garmin Marine Network Wi-Fi Adaptor.
The App is free but if you want any usable maps – they cost money. And only with paid options do you get Tide and Current information.
The BlueChart Mobile App is a direct competitor to Navionics and Jeppesens similar products. Navionics has had a great run – where Jeppesens Plan2Nav has not gotten much attention.
We will be back with a full review and more updates later. Watch this space. In the meantime you can check out the full description on iTunes – Garmin BlueChart Mobile
