Yacht Devices has finally given CAN Log Viewer and YDVR Converter the major refresh both tools needed. Both are now at version 1.80, with bug fixes and an updated user interface, and the new builds target current desktop OSes rather than the decade-old ones the previous line still supported.

Supported platforms for v1.80, as Yacht Devices states them: Windows x64 10 1809 or newer; macOS 13 or newer (Universal, Intel or Apple Silicon); Linux x86/64 tested on Ubuntu 22.04, needing glibc 2.35 or newer and X11 or XWayland. Older builds (pre-1.80) that still ran on Windows 7, older Linux, and Mac OS X 10.7 Intel are kept in Legacy folders on the Downloads page, so you are not stranded if the boat laptop never left Windows 7.

The useful functional change is on the YDVR Converter side: it now supports up to eight engines, and engine numbers no longer need to be sequential. If you are pulling Voyage Recorder logs from a multi-engine setup that previously needed workarounds, that is the reason to move.

Download from the Yacht Devices Downloads page. If your machine meets the new OS floor, take 1.80; if it does not, stay on the Legacy ZIP rather than fighting the new binaries.

Practical takeaway: check the OS version on the laptop you actually use for log conversion before you overwrite the old install — and if you run more than two engines through a YDVR, 1.80 is the one you want.
