Updated: As you can read below – Garmin has issued a recall on the quatix watch. But after speaking with a few International dealers – the situation seems unclear. There is no current replacement watch available – and the International dealers have issues shipping the watches back to Garmin with “defective” batteries.
But no current replacement watch is even worse – that means you can send in your watch now – and then wait until Garmin makes a new watch available. That does not sound good at all. Who knows how long it will be, before a new watch can be shipped.
So the International dealers are waiting for Garmin to update them on how to handle the situation – by letting clients wait for replacement watches before “activating” the recall – or just issue full refunds.
We will keep you posted as we hear more.
[original posting]
Garmin have identified a potential safety issue involving the quatix watch.
Given our longstanding commitment to safety and customer satisfaction, we are voluntarily recalling all quatix watches. The issue involves the battery being too close to the watch housing in some watches, which, when combined with salt water or heavy perspiration, can cause a small burn on the skin under the watch. We have received 1 report of this occurring.
The following serial number ranges are subject to this recall and should be returned for a free replacement. You can find the serial number on the rear casing of the watch.
337000001 through 337009999
37R000001 through 37R009999
You will need a return merchandise authorization (RMA) for a free replacement watch. Please send an email to quatix.recall@garmin.com and include the following information:
Name
Shipping address
Primary phone number
Serial number
Email address
